The challenge

Entretelas Interiores is a business with an extensive catalog of fabrics, decor materials, and home textiles. The business operated exclusively in person: customers had to visit the store to see the options, check prices, and place orders. There was no way to discover the catalog online.

The challenge was to digitize that catalog without losing the personalized consultation experience that characterizes the business. In the Dominican market, many purchases of this kind end in a direct conversation — not an "Add to cart" button.

The solution

WooCommerce on WordPress with a customized Calla theme. The catalog is organized by product category, with product pages that include color and size variants, prices in Dominican pesos, and high-quality photos.

The key UX decision: integrating a direct WhatsApp button on every product page. In the Dominican market, quoting via WhatsApp is the most effective closing channel for this type of product. The customer discovers online, asks via WhatsApp, and buys with confidence.

Deployment was done via SSH from Claude Code — this allowed for a more agile iterative development flow than the typical FTP/cPanel cycle.

Why WooCommerce and not Shopify in this case

For clients in the DR with an extensive inventory in Dominican pesos and no need for an international gateway, WooCommerce can be more economical and flexible than Shopify. There's no monthly platform fee, the client has full control over the data, and integration with local payment methods is simpler.

Shopify has clear advantages for high-volume e-commerce with international operations — that's my recommendation for that profile. For a local niche business with an extensive catalog and a consultative sales process, WooCommerce offers more flexibility without the extra monthly cost.
